The S.T.O.R.M. Framework:
Being a teammate is both a mindset and a skillset.
These five habits are the foundation for success — in sports, in leadership, and in life.
At TeammateU, we break this down into five powerful habits that shape leaders on and off the field:
The 8 Core Teammate Strategies
To ensure athletes can live out the S.T.O.R.M. framework, we teach them the daily practices that make them great teammates:
How to take care of yourself: Athletes can’t pour from an empty cup. Understanding self-care, preparation, and personal growth fuels their ability to help their teams.
What it means to ‘engage with positive energy’: Attitude is contagious. An athlete needs to ensure their enthusiasm and body language set the right tone.
The importance of always doing extra to improve skills and readiness: A growth mindset creates excellence. Real teammates must accept that it’s essential to prepare when no one’s watching.
Why learning every teammate’s past and perspective is essential: Understanding builds empathy and trust. Great teammates need to know how to connect beyond the scoreboard.
How to maintain daily awareness of your teammates: Learning to stay present is crucial. Athletes must be able to notice who’s struggling, who needs support, and when the vibe shifts.
What it means to activate your influence to promote team standards: Everyone sets the tone by example not title. Teammates must know how and why to hold the line.
How to ensure the team mission is always the priority: The best teams are mission-driven. Great teammates are skilled at keeping the collective goal front and center.
How to encourage and help others to be great teammates: The true measure of a teammate is not how high they climb, but how many they bring with them.
